Effective Mentorship.

To be an effective Mentor you need to establish a relationship of trust with your Mentee.  To do this you need to:

1) Be available and reliable; do what you say you are going to do

2) Learn to listen.  Gain a clear understanding of the mentees struggles and issues; but don’t judge

3) Be interested and inquisitive.  Question actions and thoughts, play devil’s advocate, but in a non-threatening manner

4) Be direct, objective and honest in your communications; but demonstrate empathy and compassion

5) Keep conversations and communication confidential

6) Be a friend and someone the Mentee can count on
