Effective Mentorship.
To be an effective Mentor you need to establish a relationship of trust with your Mentee. To do this you need to:
1) Be available and reliable; do what you say you are going to do
2) Learn to listen. Gain a clear understanding of the mentees struggles and issues; but don’t judge
3) Be interested and inquisitive. Question actions and thoughts, play devil’s advocate, but in a non-threatening manner
4) Be direct, objective and honest in your communications; but demonstrate empathy and compassion
5) Keep conversations and communication confidential
6) Be a friend and someone the Mentee can count on
